My Story

Growing up in a creative home with a woodturning father and graffiti artist brother; it was sort of inevitable that I would become interested in the artistic life and so at 17 I attended LSAD where I very quickly fell in love with pottery. In the years that followed I worked with potters across Ireland and attended Dccoi’s Ceramic Skills and Design Course in Thomastown, Kilkenny. Added to this some years of travelling and further education in international pottery techniques and design I have now set up my dream studio in Dunhill, Co. Waterford.

Sustainability

At Vivien O’Malley Ceramics we try to be as sustainable as possible by using recyclable, recycled or biodegradable packaging.

Biodegradable Wrapping: We use a honeycomb die-cut kraft paper to wrap and pack pots along with tissue paper.

Recycled Boxes: Our gift boxes are made from recycled materials and are also fully recyclable

Brown Paper Tape: We use environmentally friendly brown paper tape to secure our boxes

Biodegradable Loose Fill: Our loose fill packaging chips are made from corn starch which can be composted without leaving a trace.

Biodegradable Bubble Wrap: When needed we use biodegradable bubble wrap. A special additive is included during production to allow the bubble film to be biodegradable within 12-24 months.

Cardboard Boxes and Paper Bags: Paper bags are used in the shop, and cardboard boxes to send orders out.

We also re-use any packaging materials, both boxes and packaging, that we receive from customers or suppliers. These can be anything from polystyrene loose fill, bubble wrap to brown paper. We would encourage you to reuse whatever you can!
